Vanderbilt guard Karris Bilal bolts for transfer portal

Karris Bilal certainly didn’t waste any time.

The Vanderbilt guard entered the transfer portal just 13 minutes after the Commodore’s 59-56 loss to Saint Mary’s in the first round of March Madness 2025, he told Rivals.

Bilal did not appear in a single game as a freshman this year and redshirted as a result.

He reportedly did not even travel with the team to Cleveland for its first-round game nor to Nashville for the SEC Tournament.

An Atlanta native, Bilal was a three-star recruit and ranked as the 22nd-best recruit in Georgia.

He is a point guard and is listed at 6 foot 2 and 190 pounds.

The No. 10-seeded Commodores led by 12 points in the second half, but their lead evaporated when Augustas Marciulionis got into foul trouble and Gaels guard Jordan Ross sparked a St. Mary’s rally.

“We missed some shots around the rim,” Vanderbilt coach Mark Byington said after the game. “We missed some open 3s. It was a lot of things there.

“I think those body blows got us. One thing when those guys are that size, they’re not losing any weight or getting any shorter throughout the game.”
