Aaron Rodgers takes solo beach stroll as free agency decision looms

He’s a long way from New York and Pittsburgh.

A pensive Aaron Rodgers took in a beachy scene in Malibu this week as speculation continues to build about the ex-Jets quarterback’s future.

The four-time league MVP wrapped himself in a towel and appeared contemplative as he looked out toward the ocean wearing printed swim trunks and a backward baseball cap.

It remains to be seen what’s next for Rodgers, who was released by the Jets on Wednesday after two unremarkable seasons.

The team, which has since pivoted to former Steelers quarterback Justin Field, ate $49 million in dead cap by cutting Rodgers loose.

The 41-year-old quarterback has drawn interest from the Steelers and Giants, who are awaiting his decision as of Thursday afternoon.

It’s also possible Rodgers calls it a career after 20 seasons in the league.

He spent the first 18 seasons of his Hall of Fame career in Green Bay, winning one Super Bowl in February 2011, before being traded to the Jets in 2023.

Rodgers played just four snaps in his Jets debut before going down with a season-ending Achilles injury in Sept. 2023.

He returned to action in 2024 when the Jets went 5-12 and missed the playoffs.

Rodgers, who appeared in all 17 games, threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Although some have grown impatient with Mr. Rodgers’ waiting game, he is the biggest quarterback domino still standing in free agency.

Former Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson is also on the board and visited the Browns on Thursday.

He will meet with the Giants on Friday.

Wilson, 36, briefly flirted with the Giants last offseason before signing a one-year deal with the Steelers.

He appeared in 11 games, throwing 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions.

It’s been reported the Steelers have made Rodgers an offer.

The team brought back a familiar face Thursday in quarterback Mason Rudolph.

He spent six seasons in Pittsburgh, where he was drafted in 2018, and signed with the Titans last March.
