Several people were injured in the UK after a car plowed through a parade of Liverpool FC football fans who were celebrating the team’s Premier League championship.
Thousands had gathered to celebrate the Liverpool Football Club’s 20th soccer championship.
The vehicle slammed into “a number of pedestrians on Water Street” around 6 p.m. local time, according to police.
“The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained,” said Merseyside Police in a statement.
It remains unclear whether the smash was intentional or accidental.
Frightening footage from the scene shows the car accelerating into the crowd several times before being stopped by bystanders.
No details about injuries have been released.
