Yankees’ stock plummets after nightmare Gerrit Cole injury

It’s getting close to panic button time for the New York Yankees.

In the midst of a nightmare Spring Training, where the Bombers have lost stars Gerrit Cole, Giancarlo Stanton, Luis Gil, among others, the Yankees have seen their World Series odds drop.

The Post’s Jon Heyman has rightly called it “The spring from hell.”

It’s only March, but the Yankees’ odds to make the playoffs have decreased 11.55 percent since opening, according to odds at BetMGM Sportsbook.

The Yankees opened at -410 to make the playoffs but have now settled in at -220 at BetMGM Sportsbook.

Their chances to win the World Series moved a bit smaller, just 1.11 percent, as odds shifts from +800 to +900 to win the Fall Classic.

They also dropped from +300 to +350 to repeat as American League Champions.

It’s a nightmare start for the Yankees, who could look outside the organization for pitching help, although don’t expect that to save them.

General manager Brian Cashman had told reporters that the Yankees were on the outside looking in at potential starting pitching help in the trade market.

Previously, Dylan Cease was floated in trades by the San Diego Padres, who were under a spending crunch from their new owners.

It does not appear that he will be available in a trade at this point, and unless the Padres fall out of favor by the time the July deadline rolls around, there could be no legitimate ace available.

The Yankees will need to create a productive starting pitcher from thin air, at least until reinforcements arrive.

If not, the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles are breathing down their necks in the AL East.

The Red Sox have the second-best odds (+260) of usurping the Yankees, while the Orioles are right on their tail in third (+275).
